The Lambs make the trip down to Essex as we take on Southend United on Saturday at 3pm at Roots Hall Stadium in our next Vanarama National league fixture.
Andy Peaks’ side will be hoping to continue their unbeaten run of four games, after a goalless draw on Tuesday evening against Yeovil Town.
Yeovil were dominant in possession for most of the 90 minutes, but neither side emanated to conjure up any real chances at goal. Yeovil were reduced to 10 men midway through the second half, when Morgan Williams took out Rico Browne with a nasty challenge from behind, however Tamworth failed to take advantage of the extra player, and the points were shared.
The draw saw us stay mid table in 12th position on 21 points from 15 games, missing the chance to climb up to 8th, one place below the playoffs and above Yeovil.
Saturday's opponents Southend United currently sit in 15th position on 18 points, after drawing on Wednesday night, 0-0 against Aldershot. The Shrimpers have only managed to win four of their first 15 games this season under the management of former club captain, Kevin Maher. The ex-midfielder made more than 400 appearances for the Blues over a 10-year spell and captained them to back-to back promotions to the Championship.
Gus Scott-Morriss is Southend’s top scorer this season so far with nine goals from 13 appearances from right back. The 27-year-old is proving to be a key figure for the Blues as the next two highest goal scorers have only scored two each.
We look forward to the trip down to Southend, and hope that many of you will also are the trip with us and support the Lambs in this National League clash.
