Tamworth welcome Yeovil Town as the Lambs look to increase their winning streak to four in a row.
With just a point between the two sides, the Compare the Build Community Stadium will host the Tuesday night fixture in which the Lambs could progress to 8th in the table depending on other results.
The Lambs continued their fine form against Woking at the weekend with a 3-2 win with goals from a Nathan Tshikuna free kick, a fine Tom McGlinchey strike and a late goal from Dan Creaney securing the three points.
The Glovers were promoted into the Vanarama National League as champions like Tamworth were and have started the season well, picking up 21 points from 14 games. Both teams have been in fine form going into this fixture, with Yeovil most recent victory coming against Wealdstone after a convincing 3-0 win away from home.
The current Yeovil Town manager, Mark Cooper is a former Lamb as a coach and a player, making over 100 appearances for Tamworth as well as being a part of the management between 2004 and 2007. Cooper will be well known for his fantastic FA Cup runs, making the third round of the competition consecutively as the manager facing Stoke City at the Britannia forcing a replay and Norwich City at the Lamb Ground.
Cooper said that he is very pleased with his team’s recent performances but urged supporters to get behind the team through thick and thin, as well as praising Tamworth stating that “it will be a tough game“ and “we need to find a way of going there and getting something.”
Andy Peaks also insisted that the fixture will be a tough game with both teams looking for three more points in the National League and praised his side stating “I do believe we have a very good team, I’ll always back them.”
This fixture will be the first meeting between the two sides in history with no previous meetings between the clubs. Both meetings this season are scheduled to take place in midweek with late travels for the away side in both fixtures.
Dan Creaney took his scoring tally to six goals in his last six games at the weekend, making him one of the most inform strikers in the league at this moment as he will be looking to score his seventh under the lights. Nathan Tshikuna has also been in fine form, four goals in his last three games as well as contributing two assists in his most recent match.
Although Yeovil Town have picked up some good points recently, there does seem to be a lack of goals on their end, with just five goals in their last eight matches with midfielder Brett McGavin sitting as their top scorer this season with four goals. Unlike Tamworth, the Glovers exited the FA Cup last week following a 1-0 defeat to newly promoted National League South side Chesham United.
The Tuesday night tie will be the Lambs final home fixture before our FA Cup first round match-up against Huddersfield Town with one trip to Southend United between the fixtures.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the Compare the Build Community Stadium and we thank everyone for their fantastic support so far this season.
