Tamworth vs Kidderminster Harriers, Pre-Season
Tuesday 23rd July 2024, KO 19:45 (7:45pm)
Friendly Preview
Kai Lissimore will face his former club Kidderminster Harriers weeks after joining the Lambs as we host the National League North club in our fifth pre-season friendly.
After spells with Kidderminster Harriers and Halesowen Town, with a short spell on loan at the Lamb in Dece 2021, Kai Lissimore committed his future to the Lambs in late May and will now face his second former club of our pre-season journey having played Halesowen just nine days ago. The talented young midfielder has started three of our four pre-season matches so far and will be hoping to improve further on his great start to life as a Lamb.
Kidderminster will be hoping to build on a great start to their 2024-25 campaign having won two of their three friendlies with one of those victories coming against Cardiff City in a 1-0 win. Having scored in each of their friendlies, this will be a good test for the Lambs defensively after securing the best defensive record in the National League North last season, conceding just 29 goals in 46 games.
Tuesday’s match up will be a great test for our top scorer last season Kyle Finn, who has scored in consecutive pre-season games against Harborough Town and most recently against Walsall. Finn committed his future to the Lambs by signing a two-year contract in late May amid interest from other clubs after a very successful campaign last season.
New signing Miracle Okafor will be hoping to get on the scoresheet once again having two goals in pre-season for the Lambs, making an instant impact since joining this summer. Having scored against Harborough Town and former club Halesowen in pre-season, he will be hoping to continue his fine form going into our 2024-25 campaign in the National League. Okafor was high on Andy Peaks’ summer wishlist after a fantastic season at Halesowen, scoring 17 league goals for his former club last season.
Andy Peaks, who committed his future to the Lambs in April by signing a two-year deal, has won back-to-back titles since joining the club in 2022 and will be looking to rotate his squad tomorrow, like he has in other friendlies to find his best team and favoured fit for the upcoming season.
The two clubs have only met once in the past six years, with Kidderminster beating Tamworth 1-0 in the FA Cup in September 2022, Tamworth will be looking to ensure this doesn’t happen again by hoping to gain their second win in pre-season.
