Cockerill-Mollett, Milnes and Tonks make it 8
A busy week for Andy Peaks came to an end with 3 players agreeing to commit to the Lambs for the new season.
Accomplished full back Callum Cockerill-Mollett joined the Lambs from Walsall during the reign of Gary Smith, but it was under the management of Andy Peaks that the Ireland U19 international proved what he could do and quickly claimed the left back position as his own. Callum has made 74 appearances for Tamworth and it is good to see him looking forward to life in the National League.
Captain Ben Milnes joined the Lambs as a title winner from Buxton in the summer of 2022 and has added 2 more championship medals to his tally with Tamworth. He took over the armband last season and his leadership has seen the Lambs win the National League North at the first attempt. Ben creates numerous problems with his intelligent passing and skillful set pieces, including some stunning goals. It’s great to see Ben back with us.
The final signing of the week was announced as Tom Tonks. The midfielder was with the Lambs during the second Covid season and following this left to join Stafford Rangers for 2 seasons. Manager Andy Peaks tried to sign him during our time in the Southern League, but finally got his man when he tempted him away from Rushall Olympic in November 2013. Tom plays with his heart on his sleeve and his specialist throw ins are a nightmare for opposition defences. Welcome back Tonksy!
