20240228 - Lambs Welcome Blyth Spartans

Tamworth v Blyth Spartans. Saturday 2 March, KO 3.00pm

Vanarama National League North

The Lambs are back at the Compare the Build Community Stadium on Saturday as the final countdown to the title run-in begins. We welcome Blyth Spartans who make the long journey from the North East. They are under new ownership and will provide tough opposition. In the away fixture back in October, it took a last minute goal from Jamie Jellis to grab all 3 points.

Despite a run of games without too many goals, with results in other games going in our favour, together with the meanest defence in English football, we find ourselves in a strong position. Andy Peaks is under no illusion that our lack of goals needs to be addressed as he assesses his injury hit squad.

“We are working hard in training to improve this (goal scoring), and the management team will look hard at the team selection for the game on Saturday. We must find a way in the final ten games to ensure we are regularly hitting the back of the net and picking up the points to achieve our aim of winning the league. It is frustrating that we have key players out. Ben Acquaye, Ben Milnes, Kai Williams and Luke Fairlamb have all been missing and Matt Curley had to go off last week with a dead leg. I do hope that we are able to welcome some of these players back against Blyth and indeed all of them over the coming games.”
