Hereford FC v Tamworth, Saturday 17 Feb, 3.00pm
Vanarama National League North
The win over Farsley Celtic on Saturday saw the Lambs take another important step forward in our promotion challenge. With Scunthorpe United losing, the gap widened to 12 points as we look forward to our next game at Hereford FC on Saturday 17 February (KO 3.00pm).
Jordan Cullinane-Liburd will now miss out on a game against his old club after his sending off for 2 yellow cards on Saturday. Dan Creaney will serve the second of his 2 games ban. while the game is likely to come too soon for Luke Fairlamb and Ben Acquaye who are suffering with hamstring injury.
It was a landmark game for Jas Singh on Saturday as he broke the club record of going the longest period without conceding a goal! A total of 808 minutes, beating Dale Belford's record of 712 minutes from the 1988-89 season, both in terms of games and minutes. We are also proud to be the best defence in English football currently conceding just 19 goals in 33 games!
The game at Hereford will be a tough fixture and it will be great if we can have another large following to cheer on the lads. The Bulls currently sit in 10th place with 50 points and are challenging for the play off places. On Saturday they narrowly went out of the FA Trophy 1 - 0 at home to Gateshead. Earlier in the season the Lambs had a comfortable 4 - 0 win over the Bulls. Manager Andy Peaks speaking on Wednesday evening said "We have some key players missing, but as we have known all the time we have equally good players that will step up and it shows our strength in depth. Hereford are a team who are looking to break into the play off places and they have a lot of good players. We are going to have to be at our best, and it is our next challenge at the start of a busy week. We keep having these challenges and rising to them, so we are going to have to keep doing it. The next 2 games are away at really good teams and it is going to be hard."
