Welcome Munashe Sundir
We can confirm that Munashe Sundire has joined the club following a 7 days approach was made to Vanarama National League South outfit Slough Town for his services. Munashe was at the Lamb on Thursday evening to complete the paperwork. We are delighted to have the experienced midfielder on board and he will be in the squad for the game against Farsley Celtic on Saturday.
Munashe is a versatile player who can play either at full-back or midfield, and has enjoyed spells with St Ives Town (where he scored against the Lambs in our first game of the 2018-19 season in the Southern Premier League Central!), Hemel Hempstead Town, St Alban’s, City, Kettering Town and King’s Lynn Town. He signed for Slough Town at the start of this season where he quickly became a fans favourite.
Manager Andy Peaks was delighted to get his man. “I have known him for a few years and he has played against me when he was at St Ives and Kettering. We always needed to bring someone in and add something to the squad with Jamie joining Walsall. Munashe, or ‘Nasaha’ as he is known, ticks a lot of the boxes for us and he will give everything for the club. We have done a lot of homework on him and he wants to come here and will fit in very well in the dressing room. He plays with his heart on his sleeve and I am looking forward to working with him.”
We realise that there has been a lot of speculation about this signing during the week, but we trust that fans will appreciate that we have followed the correct protocols in announcing the signing at the correct time.
Later today we hope to be announcing the signing of a striker joining the club.
In other news for the game against Farsley Celtic, Dan Creaney starts a 2 games suspension after picking up his 10th yellow card of the season at Alfreton Town last weekend. Luke Fairlamb will continue to miss out due to his hamstring injury but Kyle FInn and Matt Curley both trained on Thursday evening and should return following illness. Ben Acquaye left the field in the first half last week and he will need a late test, but Callum Cockerill-Mollett came through the game at Alfreton with no problems in his first game in over 12 weeks. Alex Jones continues his loan spell at Stourbridge.
