Tamworth v Farsley Celtic, Saturday 10 February, KO 3.00pm
Vanarama National League North
This Saturday we welcome Farsley Celtic to the Compare the Build Community Stadium. It was back in late August that we travelled to Farsley, and after taking the lead via a Jamie Willets header, Celtic hit back to take the lead. Moving into stoppage time at the end of the game, the referee awarded the Lambs a penalty and Ben Milnes ensured the points were shared. On Saturday Farsley enjoyed a 3 - 1 win over Bishop’s Stortford.
The Lambs grabbed a point at Alfreton Town and Andy Peaks had to make some last minute changes to the team. Matt Curley reported ill and Kyle Finn had Covid. Luke Fairlamb was out with an injury, while Ben Acquaye had to go off in the first half. It did give an opportunity for Kai Williams, Callum Cockerill-Mollett and Dempsey Arlott-John to step up and they all did very well on their return to the side. A couple of other positives from the game had to be the extending of our unbeaten run to 11 games and the defence keeping their 7th consecutive clean sheet, which is quite an achievement!
The game also marked Andy Peaks managing his 100th game in all competitions since he was appointed on 15 February 2022. In that time, he has won 62 of those games which is a remarkable achievement. His target when appointed was to achieve safety due to us hovering around the relegation zone in the Southern League Premier Central and just look at how far we have come under his leadership!
