Darlington v Tamworth. Saturday 13 January, KO 3.00pm
Vanarama National League North
After a fine week on the pitch Tamworth go into the game at Darlington in great form and 5 points clear at the top of the table. A look at the last 10 games shows that the Lambs have taken 27 points out of 30 and are currently on a run of 6 straight wins. On Tuesday at Warrington the performance was probably one of the best we have seen this season with the opposition struggling to cope with the pace and pressing game deployed.
Manager Andy Peaks speaking on Wednesday said, “From the first to the last minute, I thought we were excellent. There were no lapses and the whole performance was spot on. It was exactly what we wanted, and they followed the game plan to perfection. The energy, desire and work rate was top rate and that is what I ask for. Warrington have a good home record and have not lost there since October. To go there on a cold Tuesday night and get the win in the way we did says a lot about our players."
However, Darlington have a new Manager and will be a different proposition to the side we faced at the Lamb where we won 4 - 0. Steve Watson has a wealth of experience in the game and will no doubt lead an improvement in the club’s fortunes on the pitch. Former Lamb Scott Barrow signed for the club last week and was named Man of the match last Saturday.
The last time the Lambs visited Blackwell Meadows was in Nov 2017 when we returned with a 1 - 0 win. The winning goal was scored by Darryl knights.
