Back at the Lamb with Banbury United the Visitors on Saturday

Wed 8 Nov 2023 - 6:58PM

Tamworth v Banbury United, Saturday 11 November, KO 3.00pm

Vanarama National league North

It’s a home game for top of the table Tamworth on Saturday as Banbury United visit the Compare the Build Community Stadium. Despite a full programme of league games on Tuesday evening while Tamworth engaged in the B'ham Senior Cup, we held onto top spot, albeit on goal difference from Scunthorpe United who won at Banbury United.

We will welcome the Royal British Legion to the game on Saturday in order to remember Armistice day. A wreath will be laid before kick off as well as the last post being played prior to holding a 1 minute period of silence.

Tamworth will be looking closely at the progress of their injured players before final selection can be made on Saturday. Dan Creaney, Lindon Meikle, Ben Milnes and Callum Cockerill-Mollett are all receiving treatment, but the game may come too soon for all of them. One player who will be returning in a week’s time will be Ben Aquaye who completes his suspension period. Also available for selection will be new loan signing Max Brogan, who made a goal-scoring start on Tuesday evening.

Banbury, as mentioned above, come into the game on the back of a 2 - 0 home defeat to Scunthorpe United, However, prior to this they had two good wins on the road at Boston United and Southport. They are managed by Mark Jones, who took over from Andy Whing, who moved to Solihull Moors in the Summer.
