Tamworth v Harborough Town, Saturday 16 September, KO 3.00pm
Emirates FA Cup, 2nd Round Qualifying
Having moved to the top of the table last Saturday, the Lambs take a break from league action as our attention turns to the FA Cup. This is an important competition for Tamworth as we welcome Harborough Town, in a game sponsored by Compare the Build.
Manager Andy Peaks has his eyes set on a good run in the competition this season. “We know what they are all about having played them in pre-season for two years running. They are a strong physical side, but we are at home this time and we will take the game to them. We have got to be well prepared for this tie as it is a banana skin. Their manager has them well organised and they have some good players who have stepped down from this level to play for them. It is important that we maintain the standards we have set ourselves over the past 4 or 5 games. However, it is the most important game of the season so far for us as this is such an important competition for our club. If we can’t get it right on the day we don’t get a second chance, so we will be making sure the players are well up for this game.”
Last season we bowed out at the 2Q Round stage in a narrow 1 0 defeat away at Kidderminster Harriers.
Our opposition from Leicestershire compete in the Northern Premier League Division 1 Midlands - which is 2 levels below the Vanarama National league North. Two players with some knowledge of our visitors are Dempsey Arlott-John and Nathan Tshikuna. Dempsey moved to Harborough from Ilkeston Town midway through last season, and those that travelled to our pre-season friendly in July will have seen Nathan score a ‘worldy’ against us! Tamworth will have Jamie Jellis back available for this game, but it may come too soon for Luke Fairlamb.
With this game being an FA Competition, season tickets will not be valid. We have made it possible to purchase tickets in a variety of ways for this game
Please remember that we do not sell tickets to those 17 and under on a match day unless accompanied by a paying adult. This applies to home and away supporters. If you are 17 and under and want to attend on your own or with friends you must purchase in advance online.
