2nd Place Lambs Welcome the Turbines

Thu 7 Sep 2023 - 3:06PM

Tamworth v Peterborough Sports, Saturday 9 Sept, KO 3.00pm

Vanarama National league North

It’s an international weekend, so if your favourite team are without a game why not pop down to the Compare the Build Community Stadium to see the inform Lambs take on Peterborough Sports.

It’s the second of 3 consecutive home games on Saturday as the Lambs look to make it 5 games unbeaten as we welcome Peterborough Sports to the Compare the Build Community Stadium. Peterborough Sports had a good first season in the National League North following their promotion in 2022. They finished in a respectable 14th place with 57 points. This season they sit in 19th place with 2 wins and 2 draws from their 8 games played. On Tuesday evening they welcomed Curzon Ashton with the game ending in a 1 - 1 draw. The game will be sponsored by VIP Member Kevin Harvey.

Following our game against Chorley midweek Tamworth moved up to 2nd place in the table and Manager Andy Peaks was delighted with how his players responded, ”We passed the ball well and scored 2 important goals. I know that they could have nicked it at the end when they hit the bar, but we could have grabbed a 3rd when Ty hit the post. They are a good side and will beat a lot of teams, so for us to gain all 3 points was very important. We had to take the field with some patched up bodies and players not being available due to illness and suspension. We had to dig deep and to me it speaks volumes about the quality of the squad and the players we have here.”

On Saturday the Lambs will be without Jamie Jellis after he picked up 5 bookings, however, Dan Creaney will be available for selection after sitting out Tuesday evening. The players will be assessed to see how they are recovering from injury and illness before a final decision on team selection is made.

With it being International weekend, we are anticipating a large crowd, and after Tuesday evening’s attendance Andy Peaks wished to thank the supporters for the great atmosphere they created.
