Andy Peaks Looks Ahead to the First Friendly on Saturday 1 July

Hinckley LRFC v Tamworth
Saturday 1 July, Pre-Seaosn Friendly. KO 3.00pm
The Lambs are back in action on Saturday as they embark on their first pre-season friendly at Hinckley Leicester Road FC. This will be the first chance to catch the Champions in action since that memorable day at Redditch United back in April.
The players are back, working hard and raring to go and Andy Peaks is delighted with the attitude the players are showing. “To be honest the first sessions are never great as a player as they are quite physical! However, the attitude has been really good and we have had 2 great sessions so far. For me it is about being ready for the first (league) game of the season and we have a programme of games to get us ready for that.”
The first couple of those games are on Saturday and next Tuesday, so what is the boss looking for at Hinckley LRFC and Quorn FC? “It’s about fitness, good habits, getting to know each other, especially for the new lads so they can understand how we like to play the game. For the individual player it is about getting as fit as they can and do enough to show that they deserve to be in the team when the league starts. And we want to win every game we play, whether it is a friendly or not and I am sure I will learn a lot as we go through July.”
Andy has the squad he wants so far, although he is still looking to bring in a couple of players. “We are still looking in the attacking areas, but I don’t want to carry a massive squad as I don’t think it is a good environment to have players who are not involved.
It looks like there will be a return to names on shirts with squad numbers for the new season. “I think it is a nice gesture for the players, who have worked hard to get into this league and it is a practice that a lot of other clubs in this league do.”
Some of the players are still on holiday due to when they can get time off from their day jobs, but the vast majority of players will be getting a run out at Hinckley and Quorn.
