Barwell v Tamworth, Saturday 18 February - KO 3.00pm
Pitching In Southern League Premier Central
The Lambs make the shortish journey to Barwell on Saturday (KO 3.00pm) for what is now becoming another crucial game in our quest for the Southern League Premier Central title. Following a loss and a draw, a win is the order of the day at a venue that has always proved to be a tough place to get a result. Last season we managed to grab all 3 points with a late Tyrelle Waite winner in what was the first game played on Barwell’s new 3G playing surface.
Although it is a difficult place to go, the Lambs have a good record against the Canaries. We have played each other 8 times in competitive games and have won 7 and drawn 1.
On 26 February last year Andy Peaks was in charge for his first game at the Lamb with Barwell the visitors. A 6 - 0 win gave Andy a dream start and he will be certainly hoping for more of the same on Saturday as we look to get back to winning ways! “It’s 3 points who ever you beat, and it will not be easy on Saturday. “A win will also give us a lift as we go into the Nuneaton game which is what we all want."
Andy will have some decisions to make regarding team selection with Alex Collard returning to fitness and George Cater too, who has been out for a long time with an ankle injury. “George has been out for a while and has not got a lot of match fitness, but he is getting sharper each week in training, and I believe that he still has a part to play in the final 11 games of the season. “Jamie Jellis Is now available after illness and not being allowed to play against his home club last Saturday. “He works hard and will be a good addition to our midfield, so he will be in contention for the game on Saturday too.”
