Alvechurch Visit in Bank Holiday Action
Fri 30 Dec 2022 - 09:53AM
Pitching In Southern League Premier Central
Tamworth v Alvechurch - Monday 2 January, KO 2.00pm
We are back in action on Bank Holiday Monday with Alvechurch the visitors and we are looking forward to welcoming a large crowd to get behind the table topping Lambs, who made it 8 games unbeaten with a 4 - 0 away win at Stratford Town on Boxing Day. Goals from Ben Milnes (3) and Dan Creaney ensured Tamworth remain 3 points clear at the top of the league.
Alvechurch have been flying the flag for the league with their exploits in the Emirates FA Cup, reaching Round 2 and only losing narrowly to Forest Green Rovers in front of the live TV cameras. We know they will be tough opposition, despite their league position, as they have 7 games in hand on the Lambs, and can force their way into the play off places as they play catch up.
Following our win at Stratford Andy Peaks said, “I was very pleased with our performance away at Stratford Town on Boxing Day. “After the great win against Leamington it was important that we started on the front foot, and we got a couple of early goals that made it an easier afternoon. “Although they had a spell in the second half where Jas had to make a good save, we finished them off with a brace of penalties. “I was delighted for Ben Milnes who has had a real impact on the team since he returned from injury. “Dan chipped in with another goal and it was also good to see Ty back on the pitch and he showed the quality that he brings to the side.”
On Monday we will be supporting the #NoHomeKit campaign by wearing our away kit for the game. We hope you will be able to support Shelter and further details can be found here and in the match day programme. We will also welcome our match day sponsors Really Awesome Coffee and thank them for their support for the club.
