Tamworth’s reward for the 2 - 0 away win at Liversedge on Saturday is a home tie against National League North side Boston United in the 2nd round of the ISUZU FA Trophy on Saturday 19th November. The kick off time is to be confirmed.
Boston United have not had the start to the season most would have expected. They currently occupy the 4th relegation spot in the table having won just 3 games from 14 played. In this season's FA Cup they were knocked out by fellow Southern League Premier Central outfit Basford United after a replay and penalties.
The Lambs and United have faced each 22 times, but our record is not the best! United have won 11 against 5 for the Lambs with 6 games being drawn. The last time we faced the Pilgrims at the Lamb in the National League North resulted in a 2 - 1 home win on 15 Aug 2017. A gate of 702 witnessed goals from Styche and Knights. However, we do have a better record in cup competitions. In the Trophy we have faced each other twice - winning one game each. The first encounter was won 3 - 0 by Boston in January 2001, then in January 2013 the Lambs won 2 - 0 at the Lamb. We have faced each other once in the FA Cup. We drew 1 -1 at Boston in September 1991 and then won the replay at the Lamb 1 - 0 in front of a gate of 1215.
We will announce ticket details soon but it will be a great test for Tamworth against higher league opposition.
