Pitching In Southern League Premier Central Tuesday 25 October (KO 7.45pm)

Tamworth v Royston Town

The games are coming thick and fast and after our win on Saturday we will be looking to extend our remarkable winning run of league games to 9 on Tuesday evening, something that has not been achieved since Andy Morrell took us on a 12 games winning streak in the 2014-15 season.

It will be the second time in a space of 5 days that our visitors Royston Town will have to make a long journey north. On Saturday they were at Hednesford Town and staged a remarkable comeback from being 3 - 1 down with 2 goals in the final 17 minutes to share a 3 - 3 draw.

We have played the Crows on 8 occasions, winning 4 and losing 3. We travelled to play them for the first game of last season and came away with our tails between our legs following a 3 - 0 defeat. However, we gained our revenge with a 2 - 0 home win on 8 Jan when Gary Smith and Tom Baillie had taken charge of their first game as a duo following the departure of Andrew Danylyszyn.

With a number of players out of the game on Saturday due to injury, Manager Andy Peakes will be hoping that some may have recovered in time to claim a place in the squad. Speaking to Lambs Media after our win over Hitchin Town he said; “You will see that the squad is really stretched at the moment. “We have got a few out and to compound things we then lost Bully (Liam Dolman) early on which was a real blow. “We then had AJ come off which made it even more difficult because he was playing really well. “But what it does do is give opportunities to players like Cam Howkins who has been waiting for his opportunity. “He came on and did great for us, which I knew we would, “We also had Shaq (Whittingham) come on and he had been out on loan on a dual registration at Halesowen Town to get some game time. “I recalled him on Friday because I needed to have a wide player involved in the squad. We are using all our resources at the moment, but that is part of football. “Other teams will go through it, however, we are picking up good points at the same time.”
