We caught up with Andy Peaks on Thursday to chat to him about pre-seaosn and his thoughts on the new signings made while he was away.
Andy Peaks may have been on his honeymoon, but he has kept in touch with the pre-season progress with his assistant Neil Champelovier. They were pleased with the workout at Hinckley last Saturday and that most of the squad were able to get some minutes under their belt. Players that were missing (Jas SIngh, Dan Creaney, Ben Bailey, James Hurst, Dexter Walters, Jordan Clemment and Geore Cater) should be available for the game with Kettering Town. The new players that were on show at Hinckley impressed on their first outing and this pleased Andy, “Basically, every new signing we have done our homework on. “We have picked players that fit into what we do on and off the pitch. “We knew the areas we needed to strengthen, and I believe we have done that. “We have got a really good squad now and I am delighted with it. “It’s up to us to get them to bond and play together as a unit now. “It may take a little time, or they might click quickly, “it might not, but I know that once we get this group playing together as a unit, we'll get on a decent run and actually pick quite a lot of points up.”
Andy is pleased to get the signing of Luke Fairlamb completed. “He is a quality left back and has plenty of Conference North experience with Brackley Town. “He is the final piece of the jigsaw and provides us with competition for the left back position.”
The signing of Alex Bradley is a real coup for the club “I am delighted to get Alex into the club. “We knew it was an area we wanted to strengthen, even before Bez and Jack left. “I spoke to him a couple of times. “He was wanted by clubs at a much higher level, but he likes what we are about and has bought into what we want to achieve.”
“I know AJ (George) from Diamonds and I know what he is all about. “I was pleased to see him on the scoresheet last week as I know he is capable of getting goals and he was fantastic last season. “He is great at linking up play, so I am pleased he has joined us.”
Andy is looking forward to the visit of Kettering Town on Saturday “A club I have had many games against – not just as a player but as a manager too – lots of great battles! “It’s obviously going to be a tougher game for us than last week, but one we can do well in. “It will also give some of the players an opportunity to get their first minutes too.”
