Tamworth v Redditch United, Saturday 16 April, KO 3.00pm
Pitching In Southern League Premier Central Division
We welcome Redditch United to the CRMOT Centre Community Stadium at the Lamb on Saturday.
Redditch United have experienced personal tragedy with the sudden passing of midfielder Thomas Rankin a couple of weeks ago. The midfielder had been with the club for the past three seasons, and it was not only a devastating loss for his family and club, but for the whole footballing community too. We send our thoughts and prayers to the family of Tom, his friends and everyone involved with Redditch United.
The Lambs and Reds (as Redditch and Redditch United) have played each other 98 times with Tamworth winning 47 of the encounters, losing 25 with 26 games drawn. We travelled to the Trico Stadium in August and came away with a 2 – 0 victory. The scorers on the day were Henri Wilder and Dan Creaney.
The new Management team headed up by Andy Peaks has seen a massive turnaround in results and performances since they arrived.. Tamworth were rock bottom of the form table, but now sit fifth from the last ten games played. Commenting on the change in fortunes Andy said;“We are working hard and developing things in training, but there's no substitute for results. “Everyone gets a bit more confident, and confidence leads to better results.”
After the game at home to St Ives Town on Saturday 23 April we will be holding the annual presentation of player and club awards in the club house. Everyone is welcome to join with the players and management as we find out who has won the various trophies including the Supporters Player of the Season and Players Player of the season awards. At the game on Saturday against Redditch United slips will be available for supporters to cast their vote, so make sure you pick up a voting slip and vote for your favourite player.
