20220301 - Sporting Next Up at the Lamb

Tamworth v Bromsgrove Sporting - Saturday 5 March, KO 3.00pm

Pitching In Southern League Premier Central

Tamworth are back at the Lamb on Saturday when Bromsgrove Sporting are the visitors (KO 3.00pm). Andy Peaks will be looking to extend the team’s unbeaten run, which has seen them pick up 5 points from 3 games and score 8 goals in the process.

Both teams are in need of points. Tamworth went above Sporting last Saturday with their 6 - 0 win over Barwell, while Sporting lost at home to Nuneaton Borough.

Sporting and the Lambs have played each other 4 times and the Lambs are yet to taste victory. Earlier in the season Tamworth travelled to the Victoria Ground and came away with a point in a 1 - 1 draw. Jack Thomas put the Lambs ahead before Sporting grabbed the equaliser.

Before Sporting took over the mantle of keeping non league football alive in Bromsgrove, Tamworth had a long history of playing the former tenants of the Victoria Ground - Bromsgrove Rovers. The teams faced each other over 100 times with the first encounter back in 1933!

Like Tamworth, Sporting are not having the season that pundits expected, with both clubs at the wrong end of the table. The teams have played 29 games each with Tamworth ahead of their rivals by just two points.
