20220120 - Tamworth Travel to Stratford Town on Saturday

Tamworth head along the M40 for the second time in a week, this time to Stratford Town (KO 3.00pm). The team is in far a far better place following the encouraging performance at Leamington on Tuesday evening. Although the result saw the Lambs exit the competition, the management team were very upbeat about the quality of play on show and the commitment of the team. Gary Smith thought there were at least 7 players in contention for the man of the match award.

The team is also taking on a different look with a several new signings adding competition for places, while a few have moved on. In the past few weeks, the club has welcomed Ahmed Obeng, Nyal Bell (Loan), Kyle Lissimore (loan), Nicholas Kinina, Shaquille Whittingham, Dan Bradley, Taylor Morrison, and James Hurst. We have also seen Tyrell Waite, Shaq McDonald and Balal Yafai leave, while Michael Tait-Moran has had his loan extended at Stafford Rangers until the end of the season. We may be in a position to announce further signings before the game on Saturday.

Stratford Town and Tamworth met at the Lamb a few weeks ago and the Bards came out on top in a 2 – 0 win. There are several connections in the playing squad with Stratford. For example, the Bards will have Jimmy Fry and Mikey Taylor in their ranks, while Ahmed Obeng, Nicholas Kinina and Taylor Morrison have all played at Stratford. And of course, Tom Baillie and Scott Machin are a former Stratford Town Management team.
