Tom Ward has been allowed to leave the Lambs as the experienced defender has been offered a player manager role at United Counties League outfit Sleaford Town FC. Tom actually stayed on for a few games to help the Lambs out due to a number of defenders out injured, and we are grateful to him for the commitment he has shown. All at the club wish Tom every success as he progresses in his career.

Coming in to replace Tom is defender Martin Riley from Stourbridge. The 34 years old brings a wealth of experience to the club having played in the football league and at the highest level of non league throughout his career.

Martin started his career with Wolverhampton Wanderers before signing for Shrewsbury Town in 2008. He had two spells with Kidderminster Harriers and Cheltenham Town after departing Shrewsbury before joining Mansfield Town in 2011. He moved on to Wrexham in July 2012, and won his first major honour in March 2013 winning the FA Trophy Final at Wembley. He then enjoyed a second spell with Mansfield Town in League Two before spending the 2015-16 campaign with Tranmere Rovers in the National League. Martin moved on to spend time with Halifax Town and Alfreton Town ahead of playing the 2019-20 season at Hereford.

Martin is available for our FA Cup tie at Belper today - welcome to the Lamb Martin!
