The Lambs are delighted to announce the signing of striker Mike Taylor from league rivals Bromsgrove Sporting. Mike had a short spell with Tamworth under the stewardship of Dennis Greene in 2018/19 when the team were struggling, scoring 2 goals in 8 games.
His attacking prowess has been described in many ways - as a powerhouse and as a Beast! So it would be fair to say that the ‘Beast is back’ in the colours of Tamworth, to continue to strike fear into the defences of teams in the Southern Premier Central League, He will relish the opportunity to work with Tom Baillie again. When Mike was at Stratford Town, Tom was his manager and was leading scorer there. No doubt he will also be pleased to be back in the company of Shaq McDonald, a deadly partnership that brought no less than 38 league goals between them in the shortened 2019/20 season. When the season was declared null and void Mike was the league’s leading goal scorer with 24 goals
Mike started out in the Solihull Moors youth set-up before linking up with Midland Combination side Earlswood Town where he hit over 40 goals in the 2010/11 season. He then enjoyed spells at Worcester City and Solihull Moors before linking up with Stratford Town for the first time in July 2016. He then moved on to Redditch United early in the 2016/17 campaign, but was quickly back at the Bards by November 2016 and he duly became a favourite with the fans, where he earned his nickname 'The Beast'. He was amongst the leading goalscorers in the Premier Division Central in 2018/19 before he had a short spell with Tamworth, but after two months he made his way back to Stratford Town via Leamington. Mike played his part in Stratford Town successfully securing a play-off spot and winning the Southern League Cup, notching 20 goals in all competitions. At the start of the 2019/20 season he signed for Stourbridge where he scored 4 goals before Sporting made a move for him in September ‘19.
Welcome back to the Lamb Mike!
