Tamworth are excited to announce a bumper pre-season programme of no less than 8 home games against a mixture of league and non league based midlands teams.
Kicking off on Tuesday 6th July Mark Swan will bring his Chasetown side to the Lamb for the first time since Aug 1987, when the Lambs won 6-1 in a West Midlands Premier League fixture. The Scholars compete in the newly formed Northern Premier League Div 1 Midlands Division.
On Sat 10th July Bedworth United make the short trip up the A5 to play at the Lamb for the first time since being relegated from the Southern League Premier Central Division. Managed by Stuart Roe, the Greenbacks play in the Southern League Div One Central.
The following Tuesday, 13 July, it will be the U23s of West Bromwich Albion. The Baggies always send a competitive side to the Lamb and we look forward to welcoming them back.
Shrewsbury Town have agreed to send their first team to the Lamb on Saturday 17 July and it will be great to host the team that plays in League 1. No doubt it will be game for Jas Singh to look forward to as it is where he started his football career. The last time the clubs met was in 2003 in the Conference.
As already announced by Halesowen Town, the Yeltz will visit the Lamb on Tue 27th July and will provide a stern test. Managed by Paul Smith, Halesowen are also members of the newly formed Northern Premier League Division 1 Midlands.
Another team who we used to regularly lock horns with is Worcester City and they will be back at the Lamb on Saturday 31 July. Now managed by Tim Harris and featuring former Lambs Louis Ezewele and Dan Jezeph in their ranks, City ply their trade in the Midland Football League Premier Division.
Moving into August and on Tuesday 3 Aug we welcome Championship side Birmingham City who are regular visitors to the Lamb during pre-season and we thank them for agreeing to send a team again.
The final home friendly before the season commences will see National League outfit Chesterfield will bring their first team to the Lamb. We look forward to welcoming Manager James Rowe and his team.
