Ryan Hamilton’s thoughts:

After three months without football, Sunday was all about getting minutes under the belt, reuniting the team and having a good time together.

The girls started really well, making sure we finished top of our group and without conceding a goal throughout the group stage. It was great to see four players making debuts today, two from Tamworth Girls Academy U18’s, with one of these two Annie, playing alongside her sister Emily and the other Lily scoring a fantastic long range goal and being awarded player of the tournament.

We cruised through the semi final with a three, nill win but at a price, with four players getting injured meaning for the final we were significantly reduced with our resources. The girls didn’t let this bother them at all, they battled on, many of them playing through knocks and aches to do us all proud.

Sunday was a great way to get back to football, the team were excellent throughout, they performed well, tried new ideas, pushed themselves and each other and showed just how much heart, determination and passion they all possess.

I could not be prouder of the girls today and can’t wait to get back at it on the training ground this week.
