2-1
Stourbridge
After the 3-0 home defeat of St Ives Town, Andy Peaks’ Lambs welcomed another opponent from the previous, Championship winning, season for the next pre-season run-out with The Glassboys of Stourbridge making the shortish journey to the Compare the Build Community Stadium.
The visitors featured four ex-Lambs in their starting eleven with Joel Kettle, Dexter Walters, Darryl Knights and the recently signed Aaron Forder lining up to start the game.
Stourbridge got the game underway attacking the Castle End in the first half and both sides started at a quick pace, with The Lambs enjoying the majority of the possession in the Stourbridge half although Deacon and Creaney found their way blocked in the final thirds.
Dolman did well to deny the threat of the attacking Glassboys around the 20 minute mark with a blocked shot, cleared corner and a header away from danger in quick succession.
The teams enjoyed a drinks break just short of the half hour, as Gascoigne had taken a knock and was unable to continue, so Cullinane-Liburd came on to replace him.
An inch perfect pass left the boot of Dolman and released Tr7 down the right on 32. His pass pushed Stourbridge back into the box and a deft chip from Reilly looking for Creaney had to be dealt with.
There was an opening for Creaney on 36 from Cullinane-Liburd’s clearance but Prosser was able to get in the way of a possible shot from the left of the area and at the other end a curling low pass made it’s way through the back line, but it was too long for Walters to get to before Singh.
And then on 40, Creaney headed home a perfect ball into the near post from the Cockerill-Mollett on the left wing to the delight of the home fans (1-0, 40 mins)
Singh was called into action on 43 when Knights swung his boot at the dropping ball and Singh palmed it over the bar, but from the corner Kettle rose highest to power home the equaliser – the first goal conceded in pre-season so far (1-1, 43 mins)
The Lambs restarted proceedings having made a couple of changes on the wings and Stourbridge swapped four on 56 as both sides struggled to find their rhythm.
Walters whipped the ball in for Knights on 59 and it took a deflection over the target for a corner, which the Glassboys number 9 planted in the box for The Lambs to deal with.
Tamworth countered from this through Tr18 who pulled the ball back from the right wing to the edge of the D for Williams to take past his man and fire inside the left hand upright (2-1, 60 mins)
Williams forced a corner on the left which caused Stourbridge to defend strongly, and then a couple more changes were made by Andy Peaks.
A powerful low strike from Creaney from the left of the area forced Price into a low stop on 67 and he went inches away from a second goal of the match on 68 glancing Cullinane-Liburd’s right wing cross just wide of the far post, in what was his last action of the game.
There were a couple more changes on both sides before substitute Finn powered a downward header at Price on 74 and a volley from Tr18’s arcing ball into the left of the box on 75 brought a good save from the keeper, and a corner too.
Jones forced the keeper into a block at the near, right, post and then Tr8 struck for goal from the other side of the box but it was tame and easy to take at chest height.
Williams was brought down just outside the right of the box on 84 and Finn’s freekick rebounded to Griffin who forced another great stop from Price to deny him.
Tr19 got into a good position but his shot went wide of the mark as the second ticked round to the 90 and a good pre-season work out for both sides.
