The Lambs made their second pre-season runout on the road at the 3G surface at Quorn’s Farley Way ground.
Andy Peaks shuffled his starting eleven from Saturday’s goalless run out at Hinckley Leicester Road while former Lamb Jordan Gough lined up for the Northern Premier League Midland Division (Step 4) club but their newest signing Ryan Beswick watched from the terraces.
The Lambs started brightly attacking the Quorn goal from the first whistle, and (10) tangled with the home defender but his claims for a penalty were waved away by the same referee who had officiated at the weekend.
On 5 (7) sent the ball into the area looking for the head of Deacon, but he couldn’t quite get the necessary glance on it to take it past the keeper, and the home side responded with some quick attacking football.
(8) upended the Quorn 9 on the left on 9 and although Meikle cleared the danger it was picked up and driven back in but didn’t trouble Singh.
A foul in the area on saw the first goal of pre-season as a penalty was awarded and Deacon fired it last the keeper low to his right (0-1, 14 mins)
Williams tried his luck with a long range effort which ricocheted back off the covering defender and Deacon hit a lot curling shot at the keeper on 21.
Cockerill-Mollett got in the way of another tame but goalbound strike from 9 from the edge of the box on 23 and 4 forced Singh to protect his goal when his shot took a slight deflection.
Singh then raced out to deny 9 who got around Willetts but was denied a shot by the Lambs custodian.
(10) took the ball in his stride from (8)’s through ball and forced the keeper to smother his low shot and the pace of (10) took him from the halfway line to the edge of the area but a trip halted the chance on 30 and (8) curled the freekick from just outside the D an inch wide of the left hand upright with the keeper static.
With The Lambs looking for a second goal, some great interplay between Miekle, Williams and Deacon on 36 ended with the latter turning a shot past the keeper and agonizingly also the right hand upright.
Singh left his area on the right of goal on 38 and handled under pressure, quite literally handing the home side a freekick with 11 striking it into the danger area but Deacon and (7) cleared it.
(10) made another good run and threaded it through to Deacon on 40, but his shot went past the post again, although this time the offside flag was raised.
As the clock ticked into half time Meikle set Williams through on goal but his first time shot was taken by the keeper second before the whistle blew for the break.
The Lambs made three changes at the break, introducing Dolman and Cullinane-Liburd at the back and Creaney up front alongside Deacon, and Meikle took the captains armband.
It was Williams who had the first strike on the half though, unleashing a powerful drive at the home keeper on 47.
And the second Lambs goal came on 52 through Cullinane-Liburd who pounced on Deacon’s push back from a right sided corner to fire home diagonally into the far corner. (0-2, 52 mins)
Another strong run from Williams into the right of the box and along the by-line but his ball in was just behind Creaney, and then good work from (7) and (8) nearly saw the latter fire home from the edge of the area, but his shot rose over the corner of the woodwork.
Quorn responded to The Lambs pressure with 10 shooting over from 25 yards on 59 and a corner resulting from good work into the box, but from it they nearly fell to a third when Williams advanced over the halfway line to go quickly one on one with the keeper who did well to deny his attempted finish.
Peaks made three changes with 25 remaining, and it didn’t disrupt the flow as Cockerill-Mollett forced a corner after tricky play from (10) down the left wing on 70, and it took five Quorn players to prevent Cullinane-Liburd from getting his head onto the flag kick.
Creaney was denied a goal from a shot off the outside of his boot on 73 by a combination of the keeper and the crossbar and when the corner fell to his past the far post his snap shot was too powerful and went over the target.
More purposeful attacking play tried to exploit gaps in the Quorn back line without adding to the scoreline as the minutes ticked into the final ten and Creaney glanced a header just wide of the mark on 82.
At the other end, 20 fired low past the post with the Lambs sub keeper at full stretch and then ball into the box by Griffin and Williams were just too long for Creaney to do anything with.
However, as play continued (8) was brought down in the box allowing Creaney to step up to the penalty spot and roll it home past the keeper (0-3, 89 mins) in the final action of an enjoyable run out.
