Match Report

After a few days of nearly 30 degree temperatures, a hot and humid Lamb welcomed near neighbours Coleshill Town, from the Northern Premier League – Midland Division, to the CR MOT Community Stadium for the next friendly fixture.
Coleshill got the match underway attacking the Castle End of the ground with the new clubhouse nearing completion and the visitors took the early initiative forcing a right sided corner.
A poor pass from the Lambs right allowed Molesworth to pick the ball up and strike for goal from distance but his shot was off target.
A well placed cross from the left was met by the head of Molesworth on 7 and he forced Singh into a close range stop as the visitors continued to caused problems in the Lambs defence.
The Lambs worked the ball into the corner on 9 and a deep cross looked for Walters, but the flag halted play, and Hart did similarly on 12 but his ball was too long and cleared the box.
At the other end Coleshill whipped the ball in from the left and once again Molesworth was the target, headed the fast paced ball over the target.
Walters went through one on one with the keeper on 16 but he was unable to curl his shot around Hathaway who got a well timed hand to his effort.
A corner was the result of a Walters run into the box on 18 and Pendley’s header under pressure went over the bar at the back post.
A left sided flag kick came from another Lambs attack on 21 and Beswick’s ball was hooked away by Tymon.
The sides had a drinks break on 24 and after rehydrating, Molesworth was on target with a right footed shot which tested Singh.
Palmer upended Walters down the Lambs left on the half hour for a freekick which Beswick floated into the area and Sandhu headed away.
From another flag kick on 33 Hart drove right footed from 25 yards but shot wide of the far post by a meter or so and at the other end, a good move and strike from Hendrickson on 36 nearly tested Singh but the shot from the right of the box whistled past the far post with the keeper in full flight.
Then on 41 the visitors took the lead with a well placed strike from Hendrickson which curled into the top left corner over Singh (0-1, 41 mins) in the final action of the first half.

HT 0-1

Tamworth restarted proceedings having made two changes to the visitors one, and on 47 Coleshill were awarded a penalty when Pendley brought down Tonge and he dusted himself down and rolled home the spot kick to double the advantage (0-2, 48 mins)
A foul in the Tamworth build up play set up trialist 10 with a deadball on 51 but it struck the wall and was cleared long by Coleshill and Burke placed a shot from 18 yards into Singh’s hands on 53.
The lights came on just short of the hour and the partisan crowd hoped that it would brighten the Lambs for the last half hour as Yeomans replaced Hart.
Waite came close to scoring on 63 with a lobbed effort after a good flick on set him free but it dropped too long and went wide of the mark.
Creaney headed a deep cross from Cox over the bar from 12 yards out on 67 as The Lambs looked more positive, pressing Coleshill more than they previously had.
On 72, after a flurry of Tamworth changes Waite chased the ball down but it was nicked off his boot and struck the Coleshill bar before being cleared.
Beswick’s freekick from the right on 76 caused problems, and Parker’s run and right sided ball forced Hathaway into a low save on 79.
Parker was instrumental again on 84 with a right sided cross that Waite couldn’t quite connect with and Walters follow up was blocked.
Mancinelli pulled back the Coleshill man on 86 and the final shot went wide of the right hand upright.
Coleshill substitute number 17 span on the loose ball after a good intervention from Yeomans stopped his first attempt and fired over the bar in the final minute of normal time, and when Mancinelli was pulled down on the left wing in added time Walters lined up the freekick from 25 yards out and it went over the wall but dipped too late and cleared the bar in the final action of the second half.
