Match Report

The Lambs got the first friendly of the 2021-22 preseason underway attacking the Meadow Street end of the CR MOT Community Stadium with side featuring a number of new faces and youth.

In the 8th minute a cross from the right by the Greenback’s number 2 had to be dealt with at the far post, and number 7 caused problems down the right in the 11th minute.
Bedworth’s 9 struck for goal from 20 yards after a slip by a Lambs trialist on 12 and only just cleared the target.
The Lambs first attack came on 15 through trialist no. 7’s right sided cross which had to be cleared by the visiting defence and a cross from the right by Martin on 17 was deflected over the goal for a left sided corner on 18.
Bedworth’s 10 struck the left had upright with a close range rifled shot on 23 and no one was on hand to follow up but the ball was put behind for a corner which Pendley and Creaney headed away.
There was a drinks break on 23 and The Lambs pushed forward from the restart with Creaney and Waite, wearing the captains armband, trying to link up. Trialist 7 was then upended on the right and Creaney fired the freekick over the target into the terracing behind the goal.
A long range strike from trialist 4 forced the visiting keeper into a flying save to his right, and from the corner Bedworth cleared, raced to the other end and 10 miss-hit his hot, failing to test Fallows.
A deep freekick from 4 was nearly met by Creaney on 34 but he was adjudged to have climbed to reach the header.
Soleman capitalised on a poor backpass on 36 but found the Bedworth keeper in his way and his shot was cleared, with 4 following up on the edge of the area, only to put his shot wide of the mark.
Creaney was booked for kicking the ball away on 37, after a foul in the corner went against him.
A mix up at the back almost handed Bedworth the lead on 39 when Pendley rolled the ball past Fallows and the keeper had to scamper back and put it behind, from a yard out, for a corner.
Pressure from the visitors earned them a corner on 41 which was headed away and thumped back in by 11 but a defensive block gave them another flagkick which was flicked past the far post by the visitors.
A surging run down the right by 7 and cross to Creaney looked to have set up the opening goal on 42 but the resulting shot was not on target and Bedworth conceded a corner instead, and Bedworth broke down field and netted instead. A long ball from the cleared corner fell for number 7 who beat The Lambs defence and curled his shot from the left of the box, into the far right (0-1, 44 mins) to give them the lead at the break.

Half Time 0-1

The Lambs made four changes at the break and a fifth on 53 when Yeomans replaced 7.
Hart tried a speculative effort from the right wing on 56 which just cleared the bar.
Then trialist 7 fed it to 14 who struck for goal and it took a wicked deflection past the Bedworth keeper but also the right hand post.
The Lambs made four more changes on 65, bringing Shaw, Parker, Tait and a replacement goalkeeper onto the field.
A Bedworth corner had to be dealt with on 67 and on 69 Parker picked up a booking for a foul on the right. From the freekick 10 headed straight onto the upright, from past the far post.
As The Lambs made headway down field, Parker miscued his shot from the edge of the area before both sides took a drinks break on 72.
Tamworth combined to forge an opening on 76 which resulted in a skewed shot from 14 from 18 yards.
At the other end a defensive mix up saw the keeper caught out of his comfort zone forcing Pendley to clear a goalbound shot off the line.
14 picked the ball up in the right and slammed a shot into the side netting on 80 and then Grantham lifted the ball over the covering defender but was brought down, setting up a freekick which was struck sweetly by 17 and forced the Bedworth keeper to push it over his bar for a corner.
Both sides took a drinks break while Bedworth tended to an injured player and returned refreshed for the final 5 minutes.
Tamworth equalised on 88 through trialist number 7 who picked the ball up on the left of the box and fired diagonally into the far corner (1-1, 88 mins)
Bedworth had time to threaten with one last corner before the final whistle blew on an enjoyable afternoon’s football
