Match Report

After two back to back cup victories (for the first time since 2010) The Lambs returned to League action against The Reds from The Valley Stadium.

Tamworth made a number of changes to the side that defeated Barwell in the league cup, but only two from the previous Saturday’s victory over Nuneaton with Clement and Obeng coming in for Yafai and Magunda.

United got the game underway with The Lambs attacking the Meadow Street end in the first half.
A 4th minute dead ball for Beswick on the left caused problems in the box but no one could get the finishing touch.
On 9, Waite cut across the box and fired the opposite direction with Adai flatfooted but it went wide of the near post.
At the other end on 10, Coyle struck the woodwork with a shot from the left and Hilton’s follow up was cleared off the line by Gough.
The Lambs took the lead on 13 when Obeng robbed Moore on the Lambs left, cut the across for Waite and he sent a similar shot to that which didn’t quite work previously, past the similarly flatfooted Addai (1-0, 13 mins)
On 19 Obeng doubled the advantage with a header over the advancing keeper from Cox’s long ball forward which Addai really should have come out for quicker but allowed the Lambs number 11 to bravely attack it and lift the roof on The Lamb once again (2-0, 19 mins)
Frances then made headway down the right into the Redditch half on 23 and forced Addai into a save from his slowly rising shot.
The Lambs were definitely enjoying their football and a freekick from Kazaiboni would have made it 3 on 26 but it whistled just past the left hand upright.
Moore picked up a yellow card for a blatant block on Rowe-Turner as he tried to make his way down the left wing but Beswick’s deadball was too long.
Clement struck from distance but failed to test Addai on the half hour mark and with Rowe-Turner in a temporary strikers position on 32, Obeng found Waite but his shot / pass into the box was cut out for a corner.
It was 3-0 on 34 as hard work and confidence brought The Lambs rewards and this time it was Kaziboni on the scoresheet with a rifled shot from the right of the box under pressure from the Redditch defenders (3-0, 34 mins)
It was nearly 4 on 37 but Gough’s cross was headed away and Waite and Kaziboni couldn’t get the angled ball past Addai.
A Kaziboni shot come cross on 42 went out for a corner on the left and Beswick found Fry with a header and as play continued United captain Stoddart went straight through Waite handing Beswick a freekick on the left.
The ball eventually fell to Waite and he forced Addai to save it with his feet on the right of the area for a corner on the same side. Beswick’s corner was headed behind into Meadow Street in the final action of the half.

HT: TAMWORTH 3 0 REDDITCH UNITED

The Lambs got the second half underway, after making one change and changing formation to three for the visitors.
Martin upended Waite as he advanced to the edge of the area on 54 but Beswick’s freekick cannoned off a teammate for a goalkick.
Beswick was unable to continue on 66 so Forde joined the fray and he nearly made an instant impact but his cross for Waite was headed way.
Monaghan lifted a curling shot from the left channel high over Singh’s goal on 70 as chances came at a premium and Tamworth struggled to get going in the same way as they had in the first half.
United forced a corner on the right with a cross deflected off Forder and but Coyle’s deadball came to nothing in the end.
Coyle almost pulled one back on 76 but he couldn’t quite get onto the low ball in from Kennedy-WIliams on the left.

Hoenes then sprinted into the box but his path was blocked by a United defender and he was forced away from the target as The Lambs started to get back into things a little more.
Hoenes and the Lambs faithful wore a quizzical look on 80 when he was flagged offside in his own half and Redditch were awarded the freekick but the rule book confirmed the freekick is from where he touched it, not from where it was offside.
A right sided cross from the visitors was met with a cool volley from Monaghan on 85 which went straight back to Singh and The Lambs.
Obeng saw his close range shot blocked after a strong run from Waite forced Addai into a save at his near post in added time and then Wilder forced the keeper into a fine stop with a powerful shot from 12 yards.
