Match Report

Tamworth welcomed Hereford to the Lamb for the first time since the Bulls reformed out of the ashes of United, for the Emirates FA Cup 3rd Round Qualifying tie in front of a bumper crowd with £11,250 on offer to the winners (and £3,750 to the losers).

The Lambs got the game underway attacking the Castle End in the first half and the game started with pace and both sides looking for an early breakthrough.
Kaziboni made a turn and run into the box on 3 but his shot rolled back to Hall, while a deep Hereford freekick was punched away by Singh on 5.
The visitors forced a corner from the resulting play and although Cox headed it away, a push in the build up halted play.
The Bulls continued to press, with some dubious throw-in actions escaping the concern of the officials, and Nicholson hit a low shot from 20 yards which went back to Singh via a deflection.
A low Beswick freekick on 14 took a deflection for a corner which Waite got his head to but it ran long and out for a throw in.
A push on Obeng midway into the Hereford half on 19 allowed Beswick to put the ball into the danger area and it was met by the head of Magunda in the back of the box but the offside flag prevented anyone finishing the half chance.
Play continued to switch between the sides quickly with neither keeper under any pressure as the game passed the midway point in the first half.
After good work from Waite to the get the ball forwards, the final strike from Beswick went high over the Castle end and was only prevented from dropping over the fence by a fortuitously placed advertising hoarding.
Magunda was booked for holding Symons as the Hereford man tried to go past him on 33 and when play advanced down the field Jagger-Cane was booked for pulling Fry down after a good lay off by Waite.
On 41 Forde struck the ball well enough after Gough pulled back Beswick’s corner but his shot from 25 yards rose quickly over the target and Hall was happy to watch it go over the bar.
One minute added time was shown at the end of the first half which ended goalless.

The visitors restarted proceedings and after a surging run by Thomas down the right, Tamworth countered but Waite was prevented from making headway towards the half way line but the resulting freekick from Beswick went too long.
A long ball heading for Obeng was taken by the player but his touch took him away from goal and his shot forced a corner on the right.
Beswick’s dead ball was low and short and cleared to Symons, and the Bulls front man fouled Rowe-Turner on the halfway line preventing both from doing anything with the ball.
Ash replaced Jagger-Cane for tactical reasons on 56 and a niggly foul on the half way line involving Symons disrupted play again.
Waite made a strong run towards the box on 59 but his shot was blocked, and it was followed up by Gough how got his strike on target but it was tame for Hall who made a comfortable low save to his left.
Kaziboni and Obeng found a wall of blue defenders in their way on 62 as they advanced into the final third Waite and Forde then combined but the visiting defence cleared their lines and a cross from Cox was knocked behind for a corner on the right on 66.
Hereford picked up the ball though and a cross was headed behind by Gough on 67 for a corner by the clubhouse which was long and ran out of play.
Singh’s goal frame was struck by a looping header on 69, and in a bid to break through the stubborn Bulls defence, Creaney replaced Kaziboni.
He nearly managed to get past his marker on 72 but Hall picked up the loose ball as it cannoned between off the defender and Yafai came on for Forde on 78.
Nicholson wasted a good chance on 80, curling his shot from the right channel high over the target.

And as the minutes ticked down the probability of a replay Hoenes replaced Obeng on 87.
Hoenes forced a corner on the left and despite a flurry of activity in the box Hereford defence held strong.
At the other end Singh tipped the ball onto the cross from a Goulding nod and Gough conceded a corner on the Hereford right setting up Owen-Evans with the deadball and Tamworth defender strongly to ensure the replay at Edgar Street.
