Match Report

After a minute’s silence the home side got the game underway with The Lambs attacking the big banked terrace end of the ground but the first action came at Singh’s end with a couple of long throws and a cross which was headed back to the keeper.
The Lambs were in the lead on 8 through Kaziboni who picked up the ball on the right of the box, spotted a gap inside the far corner and drilled his shot past Horlock and inside the far post for a debut strike that delighted the travelling faithful (1-0, 8 mins)
A deep corner from the left on 12 was headed towards goal by Magunda but it struck bodies in front of him and Hitchin broke forward and from the right wing cross Draper’s header struck the far post full on and The Lambs cleared.
A long cross from the left was somehow missed by the Hitchin forwards on 25 and Rowe-Turner cleared the danger for a corner which Gough booted away and out of the ground. From the resultant throw, another corner was forced and Bickerstaff flashed his header wide of the mark.
Verney snick in the area round the back of Gough on the half hour but his shot took a deflection and bounced high back to Singh and at the other end Gough struck a left footed long ranger which was easy for Horlock.
Hitchin forced another corner, this time on the right on 32 which came out to Ferrell 30 yards from goal.
Singh parried it but it dropped to the floor and snuck through his legs but he was able to smother it before it went over the line.
Kaziboni enjoyed a run down the right wing on 38 and played the ball to Hoenes but he was upended by Dowie who picked up the first booking of the game.
Hitchin then put more pressure on in the next play, and from another corner Tamworth were forced to defend strongly again.
With the wind whipping up the dried leaves on the pitch as half time approached, Tamworth went in search of a second goal and it came on 43 when Hoenes and Creaney set up Kaziboni to curl a left footed shot from the right corner of the box into the top left corner of the goal. (2-0, 43 mins)
In the three minutes of added time, Hitchin put the ball into the box from a left sided freekick but it was cleared, and as play continued Hoenes was studded and required treatment as the brief rain subsided and the whistle blew.

The Lambs restarted proceedings and pushed the home side back in the opening exchanges.
After a surging run Kazaboni was hacked down on the edge of the box and Ferrell picked up a card for his efforts.
Hoenes deep freekick was met by the head of Creaney but the Canaries defence cleared their lines.
At the other end Dowie stabbed the ball wide ut it was Creaney who struck next, controlling a long bouncing ball in the box, turning on it and firing into the bottom left corner. (3-0, 55 mins)
Wilder replaced Hoenes as Hitching kicked off and the substitute nearly made it four with a left footed shot from the left of the box but only found the side netting on 56.
Hitchin made their final change on the hour and started to enjoy more of the ball as the clouds broke and forced the fans to run for cover from the light showers.
Singh was fortunate not to have to deal with a scissor kick that didn’t come off from Draper on 70 and Horlock was unable to prevent a corner which fell invitingly for Gough and he struck his half volley over the target.
Creaney picked his spot on 76 but it was blocked and went out for a corner but a poor flagkick and a foul on Fry sets up Yafai with the deadball.
The Lambs number 9 raced onto a through ball into the box on 89 but was unable to get his shot past his the covering defender and Wilder’s follow up cross was booted away.
Yafai released Creaney but he cleared the target from 25 yards in the next move, and four minutes added time was shown.

Waite took the ball into the box and threaded it to Wilder but he was unable to get his shot the right side of the side netting shortly before the full time whistle blew.
