Match Report

For the first ever meeting between Bromsgrove Sporting and The Lambs, Smith and Danylyszyn made two changes to the side that brought a point back from St Ives with Waite replacing Creaney and Wilder coming in for the injured Magunda.
After a minutes silence for former players Alan Allsopp and Peter McBean, The Rouslers got the game underway attacking the Castle End and forced corner on the right which was cleared.

But in the next move forward Hoenes sprinted into the box, tried to go past Massey and the Sporting defender brought him down. Hoenes struck the penalty past former Lambs keeper Breeden and lifted the roof on The Lamb (1-0, 4 mins)
Hoenes tricked his way into the box on 11 but the ball was nipped off his toes and rolled wide for Obeng to strike and it rose over the target.
Singh tipped McDonald’s header from 12 yards over the bar and the Lambs defence cleared the corner forcing one of their own shortly after but Beswick’s ball into the box was taken by Breeden at height.
Scores were level on 22 when a right sided cross was not dealt with and Gregory headed home, unmarked inside the near post (1-1, 22 mins)
Yafai was booked for a pull on Quaynor on 25 and Thompson-Brown fired the freekick into the terracing behind Singh’s goal.
A long range effort from Hayward went wide of the mark on 34 and o 36 Waite headed a good cross from Obeng on the right off target.
Sporting took the lead on 38 with a clinical finish from McDonald inside the box past Singh after an equally incisive through ball off the outside of his boot. (1-2, 38 mins)
Cox sent a measured cross in deep from the right on 43 and Waite cushioned the header over Breeden but the ball also dropped over the corner of bar and post.
Spink was booked for a challenge on Waite on the left on 45 but the deadball from Beswick went through to Breeden.
A foul was then awarded against The Lambs and Gregory forced a superb save from Singh to push it around the post and the half time whistle blew.

HT: TAMWORTH 1 2 BROMSGROVE SPORTING

Tamworth restarted proceedings and immediately went on the hunt for an early second half equaliser but Sporting continued to hunt The Lambs down quickly.
Creaney replaced Obeng on 52 to add some fresh firepower to the front line but it was Hoenes who set up Beswick with a freekick after the former had been brought down by Quayner on 56.
Beswick’s freekick forced Breeden into a low save at his left hand post and Fry’s return ball into the area clipped the front of the bar before being cleared. Waite forced a corner with a blocked shot on 62 but Sporting cleared through Dowd and Rowe-Turner’s clearance nearly span off his boot past Singh. Substitute Williams forced his way into the Sporting box on 70 but was under pressure for his shot and struck into the side netting. Former Tamworth striker Perry came on for the visitors on 72 and he positioned himself in the box for a freekick on 76 when Gough conceded on the Bromsgrove right wing. Perry got his head to the ball but it skimmed out past the far post. A powerful strike from distance from Pykett forced Singh to push the ball over the corner of bar and post on 78. From a Lambs attack on 84 Quaynor broke forwards but it quickly broke down and when Tamworth pushed on again Bromsgrove defended in numbers. Cox was sent off for a challenge on Shorrock on 88 as was manager Smith and in added time one for McDonald and one for Hull too. Deep into the six minutes of additional time a left sided corner was headed hoe by Perry to the delight of the travelling faithful (1-3, 94 mins)
