Match Report

For the visit of the Trawelboys to The Lambs joint Managers Smith and Danylyszyn had to make two enforced changes from the side that ran out at The Valley against Redditch the previous weekend. Injuries to Ryan Beswick and Chris Lait saw Chris Spencer make his debut and Janaai Gordon make his first league start as the 11th placed Lambs welcomed 19th placed Lowestoft.

Lowestoft got the game underway with The Lambs attacking the Meadow Street end in the first half. Concannon was brought down on the half way line inside the first minute and Magunda and Fisk were booked for their efforts.
Gordon forced a corner on the right on 4 but Concannon’s flagkick came to nothing, but he got another attempt on 8 from a freekick on the right corner which fell to Gordon but his shot was smothered by Putnins.
Douglas received the all from Williams on 10 and fired a right footed shot over the target.
At the other end Dias picked up the ball into the box and tried to take it around Putnins as he advanced towards the edge of the area but the keeper knocked it off his toes.
From a right sided corner visiting captain Curry capitalised on Singh coming off his line and headed over him into the back of the net (0-1, 15 mins)
A positive move from The lambs saw Dias flick a header over the keeper and bar from Clement’s knock into the box on 21.
Concannon fired a driven effort from the right of the box into the hands of Putnins on 23.
The same player lifted a right sided corner into the box on 28 and it was headed behind for one on the opposite side which was headed away at the near post by Fisk.
Concannon continued his involvement, drilling the ball towards the near post but Clement couldn’t direct it on target.
The midfielder forged another run into the area on 30, but he was unable to get the final shot away and the visitors cleared the danger.
Singh looked to have felt a twinge after landing awkwardly on 34 and he was nearly tested on 37 when Reed struck a rising shot from 30 yards just over the corner of right hand bar and post.
Reed was involved gain on 41 when a deep ball into the area was missed by Singh and the Lowestoft number 9 picked up the loose ball but was prevented by scoring by Magunda who handled it in the process and so picked up a straight red card.
Deeks stepped up to take the resultant penalty and Singh threw himself to his left and pushed the ball around the post to deny the visitors a second goal of the afternoon.
Singh then needed treatment from the physio to reset a dislocated finger. And after prolonged stoppage time, the visitors went into the dressing room with a one goal advantage.

HT: TAMWORTH 0 1 LOWESTOFT TOWN

Tamworth restarted proceedings and on 47 Gordon slammed a right footed half volley towards goal but it was always going off target and didn’t trouble Putnins.
Lowestoft’s Williams rattled the bar with a powerful right footed drive on 57 and then on 58 Reed latched onto a through ball and lifted it over the advancing run of Singh before going round the keeper and heading it home from six yards out (0-2, 58 mins)
Gordon made a strong run into the box from the left wing on 64 and fired a shot goalward but wasn’t able to hit the target or test Putnins with his effort.
There was a triple change for The Lambs on 66 as Spencer, Dias and Gordon were replaced by Dwyer, Maphosa and James.
A foul on 78 Lowestoft’s Smith set the same player up with the freekick 25 yards from goal just outside the D and he lifted his direct freekick over the target.
Reed was denied by Singh on 82, the attacker made a strong run into the box from the left and fired a powerful low shot at the keeper which he did well to parry before the Lambs defence cleared and the final whistle blew.
