Match Report

The Lambs sent a mixed side to Northern Premier League, Division One West Kidsgrove Athletic for a Staffordshire FA Senior Cup Quarter Final tie which the winners would earn a home game against Newcastle Town.
The Lambs had Tyrell Waite & Charlie Jemson back in a red shirt after missing last Saturday’s Home defeat due to suspension.
Club Captain Ryan Beswick was given 45 first half minutes but now needs to now work hard on his fitness levels to regain his first team shirt.
Two trialists were added to the youngsters who made up the rest of the squad.
The game kicked off with the lambs kicking down hill, the young side started well and an early chance fell to Tyrell Waite who shot over the crossbar from the edge of the left hand side of the penalty box.
The Lambs were to shortly rue the miss when a defensive clearance was intercepted by the vastly experienced Anthony Malbon who placed a header down for the Rumenio to hit a firm shot from the left past Jeyes into the right hand side of the net to put the home side one up in the 11th minute Kyle Diskin made it two nil seven minutes later when he hit a good unchallenged volley from outside of the box which Jeyes could only watch fly into the top right corner.
With the half hour mark approaching the Lambs were starting to show a bit of activity up front but were rocked back when Alex Morris the Kidsgrove left back hit a cross into the box, Malbon took the ball down and hit a first time shot which Jeyes did well to block but Malbon was on hand to tap home from close range to finish and make it 3-0 in the 27th minute.
Lambs tried to move forward in the 31st minute, Waite was put through and looked to be bearing down on the goal only for the Referee to blow for a foul in the build up.
The Assistant Referee had his flag up for Waite being offside so calling it back the Referee had given the Lambs a chance to take a free kick which Beswick sent in to the box but it was easily cleared back up field.
Jordan Clement saw in the 41st minute a 25 yard shot go just wide of the right hand post and with half time approaching Jeyes did well saving low down by his right hand post to deny Kidsgrove a fourth first half goal.

At half time Claudio Dias came on for Beswick, in the 46th minute Jeyes denied Malbon but the former Kiddy man was soon on hand in the 54th minute to rise unchallenged to place a firm header past Jeyes from another good cross from the left by Morris.
Rumenio the Home centre forward scored his second and Kidsgrove’s fifth goal in the 59th minute when from outside the box he curled a low shot through a group of players into the right hand side of the net.
On a rare visit into Kidsgrove’s penalty area trialist Jaanae Gordon came in from the left and when a shot was expected the unexpected happened as the former Cheltenham Town man squared to Jordan Clement who was not expecting to receive the ball and his effort was blocked.
In the 66th minute Manager Dennis Greene made two changes putting youngsters Sam Walton and Kyle Hayden on for Jay Thorne and Prudance Anaele.
Another chance to score a consolation goal for the few fans who had made the trip was again squandered as a left sided corner kick was under hit and was easily defended.
The defensive frailties were never as evident as they were in 72nd minute when Josh Lundsbrum took the ball on the left and ran in along the goal line to blast Home an unstoppable shot into the far side of the net to make it six nil.
Kyle Hayden was booked for an off the ball offence then in the 84th minute the youngster broke on the right, beat a defender, crossed into Tyrell Waite who saw his first time effort go straight into Kieran Harrison’s arms.

The win for Kidsgrove sets up a local derby against Newcastle Town in the semi-Final on a date still to be arranged.
